Designing Vision, Constructing Reality

When I first joined the construction class, I was a complete novice, unfamiliar with even basic tools
like a hammer. But with the invaluable guidance and support of my instructor and peers, I’ve grown
immensely in knowledge and skills. My first day on a construction site was an exhilarating, handson experience. We worked on tasks like removing temporary waterproofing from a house and
repositioning walls. I played a key role in cutting and fitting a new top plate, a crucial part of the structure.
My responsibilities evolved to handling the sheathing, which involved transporting, cutting, and
ensuring each piece fit perfectly over the walls. I also undertook precise work in trimming down
the bathroom walls, adjusting wall frames, and cutting blocking and sheathing for a snug fit.
Working on the roof was particularly challenging, requiring strict safety measures and precision
in aligning panels and nailing them firmly.
