Passive facade
As observed the facades of downtown Tuscon and found that the “active” facades (represented
in royal blue on the map) were more engaging and interactive with pedestrians, while the
“passive” facades (represented in light blue) were closed and uninviting. The observer’s
experience and understanding were shaped by the horizontal landscape vision that is typical of
neurotypical individuals and the relationship between figure and ground in their surroundings.
